Looking to uncover the hidden gems and fascinating history of your city? Join fellow olim to discover the secrets of Downtown Haifa with Get it Right @ Haifa City Tour! We'll start our two hour journey at Paris Square and tour in the historic Downtown Haifa, the oldest inhabited part of the city, where history meets nightlife and bars coexist with churches and restaurants in old mosques, where once only the sea lapped the shore. “New Haifa” started when Daher El-Omar moved the old village of Haifa to this area in the 18th century. The Ottoman Empire connected us inland by train and the British Empire - to the sea, by port. This area of the city experienced many ups and downs only to emerge as THE center of nightlife in our city, with bustling restaurants, cafes and bars. Finally, this is where the many government buildings are located, with some of the most monumental architecture of the recent era. Walk around the revived and attractive Turkish Market, Paris Square, the Port Campus, El Jurayneh Mosque, several churches and other religious buildings, finishing in the German Colony, under the Baha'i Gardens. On our route we will discuss graffiti, urban renewal and gentrification and the many, many different faces of Haifa.
