Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli PM Naftali Bennett meeting
On November 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Israeli PM Naftali Bennett on the sidelines of the COP-26 climate summit in Glasgow during which they reviewed bilateral strategic partnership and agreed on further expanding cooperation, especially in the areas of high-technology and innovation.
Ambassador Sanjeev Singla visits during November & December
On November 2, Ambassador Sanjeev Singla met the leadership of the Israeli Diamond Exchange and the diamond industry community. He also marked Diwali celebrations at the Israeli Diamond Exchange. On December 6, Ambassador met with the Minister of Health Nitzan Horowitz, and discussed ways to further advance bilateral cooperation in the health sector. Ambassador also interacted with Prof. Amir Yaron, Governor of, Bank of Israel, on December 13 and held talks on furthering bilateral economic cooperation.
Tourism Promotion Event at Indian Cultural Center (ICC)
On November 15, as India opened to international tourism, the Embassy of India, Tel Aviv & Air India Israel organized a promotional event on Indian tourism at Indian Cultural Center (ICC). The event saw participation by Israeli journalists, tourist operators, and the Indian Jewish community members.
India-Israel Women conference in STEM – November 24
On November 24, Experts from India and Israel highlighted the need for changes in the socio-cultural environment while deliberating on ways of achieving gender parity in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at the conference on India-Israel Women in STEM.
 
B. News
New supercomputing facility
On Nov 02, as part of India’s National Supercomputing Mission, 650 teraflops supercomputing facility was opened at National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute to improve food nutrition and security. The mission will cater to the needs of inter-disciplinary cutting-edge research being carried out in the institute related to agriculture and nutritional biotechnology. It will also be available for scientists of NABI and Centre of Innovation and Applied Bioprocessing and will be open to collaborative work for the scientists and faculties working in neighboring institutes and universities.

RBI Retail Direct and Reserve Bank - Integrated Ombudsman Schemes
On Nov 15, PM Modi launched Reserve Bank of India’s RBI Retail Direct and Reserve Bank - Integrated Ombudsman Schemes, which will unlock India’s $1.1 trillion bond market to retail buyers in the government bond sector. The RBI Retail Direct Scheme is aimed towards enhancing access to the government securities (G-Secs) market for retail investors. Separately, the Reserve Bank – Integrated Ombudsman Scheme aims to improve the grievance redress mechanism for resolving customer complaints against entities regulated by RBI.
 
Government scheme for development of semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem
On Dec 15, the Government of India approved the scheme for the holistic development of the semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem. In furtherance of the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and positioning India as the global hub for Electronic System Design and Manufacturing, the Union Cabinet chaired by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the comprehensive program for the development of sustainable semiconductor and display ecosystem in the country. The program will usher in a new era in electronics manufacturing by providing a globally competitive incentive package to companies in semiconductors and display manufacturing as well as design.
 
The rise of India’s Fintech industry
With a valuation of USD 1 trillion and the highest fintech adoption rate globally at 87%, India is now the 3rd largest fintech ecosystem in the world. The Fintech transaction value size is set to grow from US$ 66 Bn in 2019 to US$ 138 Bn in 2023, at a CAGR of 20%. The Fintech sector has 1,860 startups, as of December 2021, India has over 17 Fintech companies, which have gained ‘Unicorn Status’ with a valuation of over $1 bn. The Indian Fintech industry ecosystem sees a wide range of subsegments, including Payments, Lending, Wealth Technology (WealthTech), Personal Finance Management, Insurance Technology (InsurTech), Regulation Technology (RegTech), etc. 
 
India's GDP grew by 8.4% in Q2 2021-22
India's GDP grew by 8.4 percent in the second quarter (July-September) of the 2021-22 fiscal year, compared to a 7.4 percent contraction a year ago. This shows that India’s effort to boost consumption through government spending and low-interest rates is paying off, with the economy gaining strength just as a new coronavirus variant emerges as the top threat to a global.
 
India-Israel to widen the scope of Industrial R&D & Technological Innovation Fund
Further strengthening the Indo-Israel relations, experts from both countries deliberated on widening the scope of the India-Israel Industrial R&D and Technological Innovation Fund (I4F) at its 8th Governing Body meeting. They approved three joint R&D projects totaling USD 5.5 million and proposed measures to create a larger India-Israel collaborative ecosystem. The new phase of I4F 2.0 includes broadening the fund’s scope by determining the technical feasibility and market acceptability of new products or technologies, co-developing products or technologies for commercialization, and co-testing products or technologies for commercialization in R&D and pilot areas. It also included co-developing disruptive technologies in strategic sectors with research performers, as well as involving academia.
 
India, Israel signs Bilateral Innovation Agreement
Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Directorate of Defence Research and Development (DDR&D), Ministry of Defence, Israel have entered into a Bilateral Innovation Agreement (BIA) to promote innovation and accelerated R&D in startups and MSMEs of both countries. Under the agreement, startups and industries of both countries will work together to bring out next-generation technologies and products in the areas such as Drones, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Quantum technology, Photonics, Biosensing, Brain-Machine Interface, Energy Storage, Wearable Devices, Natural Language Processing, etc.
 
Israeli technology will be integrated into the micro-EV field in the Indian markets
Redler Technologies, specializing in solutions with international patents in the areas of electrical power and motion technologies, has entered into a strategic alliance with Virtual Forest (VF) of India which develops technologies for micro electric vehicles (Micro-EV) for two- and three-wheel vehicles. Both companies will together invest 5.5 million USD in the initial.

India Telecom 2022 (virtual by TEPC) 8-10 February 2022
India Telecom 2022 – an Exclusive International Business Expo will be held virtually on 8 - 10 February 2022. The event is to provide opportunities for linkages between the Indian telecom industry and buyers from across the globe for the export of quality telecom equipment and ICT services solution providers from India. There will be a Conference session from 12:30 to 16:00 hours and Expo & the B2B sessions will continue for the whole day for the two days i.e. 8 - 10 February 2022.
