Healthcare symposium with Apollo Hospitals

The Embassy of India in Tel Aviv organised a symposium on "India’s Healthcare & Groundbreaking Solutions in the Field of Medical Devices”. A delegation from India led by Dr. Hari Prasad, President, Apollo Hospitals and comprising of senior management from the Innovation and Venture Capital pillars of the firm participated in the symposium. The other panelists included the CEO of Sanoculis & Appaswamy Associates [one of the joint winners of the India-Israel Industrial R&D and Technological Innovation Fund (I4F)]; CEO of GlucoMe and CEO of Philips Electronics Israel. The symposium also witnessed the participation of representatives from leading Israeli firms/startups/venture capitalists and the medical fraternity. Ambassador delivered the opening remarks and emphasized the importance attached by the Government of India to affordable and quality health care and the opportunities for Israel in the Healthcare domain in India. He also apprised the gathering on the improvement made by India in the Ease of Doing Business rankings (a record jump of 23 places from 100th rank in 2017 to 77th in 2018) in the latest 'Doing Business Report, 2019' by the World Bank. The Embassy has received positive feedback from the participants and is undertaking the follow-up. (6 December 2018)
Israel-Asia Chamber of Commerce visit the Embassy
 
President of Israel-Asia Chamber of Commerce, Ambassador Matan Vilnai, along with other top executives of the Chamber, called on H.E. Mr. Pavan Kapoor, Ambassador at the Embassy. Ambassador Matan Vilnai briefed Ambassador about the activities of the Chamber. Ambassador Pavan Kapoor briefed on Government of India’s efforts on ease of doing business and the strides made. In the context of Israel in particular, he mentioned the five-day in a week Air India direct flight between Tel Aviv and Delhi, E-visa facility, and the recently liberalized scheme by the Embassy of India in Tel Aviv of granting five-year multiple entry visa to India for genuine members of the business community in Israel. Indus Food delegation from Israel
 
The Embassy of India, Tel Aviv is facilitating the participation of ten companies from Israel in the Second Edition of the IndusFood F&B Trade Fair scheduled to be held in India from 14-15 January 2019. DCM Tshering W Sherpa met the Israeli participants in the Embassy and briefed them about the event and the potential for mutual growth in this sector. (3 January 2019)
Interaction with MBA students from IIM-Bangalore
 
DCM Tshering W Sherpa interacted with MBA students from IIM-Bangalore on an exposure visit to Israel coordinated by the Coller School of Management, Tel Aviv University at the Embassy. He gave a broad perspective of the bilateral relations and the immense potential for future growth. (30 November 2018)
FICCI delegation visited Israel for Smart Mobility Summit
 
The Embassy of India hosted a 11 member FICCI delegation comprising of senior officials from the automotive industry that is visiting Tel Aviv for Smart Mobility Summit 2018. Ambassador briefed the delegation on the potential for mutual collaboration on a number of sectors including the automotive industry. (31 October 2018)

Tahal Group will execute a water infrastructure project in India for $ 30 million
 
The Bangalore Water Company (BWSSB - Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board) recently signed an agreement with the Tahal Israel Group to rehabilitate and improve the water supply infrastructure in the city. TAHAL will execute the project through its Indian subsidiary. The municipal authority of Bangalore is responsible for the supply of water and wastewater treatment to 42,000 households. Ashok Leyland and Elbit sign MoU for self-propelled howitzers
 
Ashok Leyland (India) announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Israeli defense electronics company Elbit Systems Ltd. to provide High Mobility Vehicles (HMV), actually 6x6 trucks, for mounting Elbit Systems' artillery guns and systems. Ashok Leyland, the largest supplier of wheeled military vehicles to the Indian Army, has expertise in design and manufacturing of logistic vehicles, combat support High Mobility Vehicles and armored vehicles. Israel Chemicals signs major Indian potash deal
 
Israel Chemicals signed, for the first time, a five-year supply agreement with Indian Potash Ltd. (IPL), India's largest importer of potash.
Under the terms of the agreement, Israel Chemicals will supply IPL with 600,000 tonnes per year in 2019 and 2020, increasing to 650,000 tonnes per year in 2021-2023, including options.
The long-term agreement was signed by the parties in a ceremony held in New Delhi that was attended by Israel's Ambassador to India Dr. Ron Malka, IPL's managing director Dr. P.S. Gahlaut, and Israel Chemicals CEO Raviv Zoller. (27 December 2018)
 
Adani Elbit UAV complex inaugurated in Hyderabad
 
Adani Defence and Aerospace and the Israel-based Elbit Systems Ltd launched the Aldani Elbit Unamanned Aerial Vehicles complex at Hyderabad. The new joint venture is touted to be the first private UAV manufacturing facility in India and the first one outside Israel to manufacture the Hermes 900 medium altitude long endurance UAV. The 50,000 square feet state-of-the-art facility will start operations with the manufacturing of complete carbon composite aero-structures for the Hermes 900 UAV, followed by the Hermes 450 UAV, catering to the global markets, and will further be ramped-up for the assembly and integration of complete UAVs here. As of now, after manufacturing, the integration of the UAV units will be done in Israel. (15 December 2018)
 
At 7.2%, India to stay fastest growing economy
 
According to the Central Statistics Office (CSO), Indian economy is expected to grow at 7.2 % in 2018-19, a tad higher from 6.7 % in the previous fiscal, mainly due to improvement in the performance of agriculture and manufacturing sectors, said. The expansion in activities in 'agriculture, forestry and fishing' is likely to increase to 3.8 % in the current fiscal from 3.4 % in the preceding year. The growth of the manufacturing sector is expected to accelerate to 8.3 % this fiscal, up from 5.7 % in 2017-18.

CAPINDIA -26th – 28th March, 2019, Mumbai
 
CAPINDIA is a joint initiative of CHEMEXCIL, PLEXCONCIL, CAPEXIL and SHEFEXIL which is poised to be one of the largest and unique networking exhibitions in the Chemicals & Plastics Sector under the aegis of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt of India. CAPINDIA 2019 is the 4th edition and will be organized in Mumbai from 26th – 28th March, 2019. The first three editions of CAPINDIA was a huge success with more than 250 Foreign Delegates from 38 countries and more than 5000 trade visitors visiting the exhibition.
For interested Israel companies: Interested Israeli companies will have to register directly through the CAPINDIA website (https://capindiaexpo.com/). The CAPINDIA organizers will examine the applications and select appropriate companies. Selected companies will be offered free air fare (in the form of e-ticket or reimbursement towards the air fare from the capital city of the Country to Mumbai) as well as complete local hospitality such as Local airport transfers, Hotel accommodation, Working Lunch, etc.
The delegate should not be an Indian passport holder(s).
The companies who have registered may inform the Embassy of India in Tel Aviv.
