Indian Pavilion at OurCrowd Global Investor Summit 2019
Embassy of India in Tel Aviv organized the first ever India Pavilion at Our Crowd Global Investor Summit 2019 at Israel Convention Center in Jerusalem. The pavilion was jointly inaugurated by Ambassador Pavan Kapoor, President of NASSCOM Ms. Debjani Ghosh and Mr. Elias Samuel, VP Global Corporate Development, OurCrowd. The pavilion hosted eight promising Indian start-ups (Agribator, Intello Labs, Hashed In, Kovair, Locus, Calsoft, Nagarro and Jobtech) exemplifying India’s evolving Innovation and Startup story. Ms. Debjani Ghosh also took part in a panel discussion on the opportunities and challenges of sourcing and supporting startups in unexpected places. Huge enthusiastic crowds at the pavilion stood as a testament to the global belief in the promise India's entrepreneurs hold in solving tomorrow's problems. 7 March

India-Israel Innovation Conference
The India-Israel Innovation Conference was launched by Ambassador Pavan Kapoor and Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary (DST). NASSCOM President Ms. Debjani Ghosh delivered the keynote address. This was followed by break-out sessions on ICT, Healthcare, Water and Agriculture sectors. Visiting Indian companies from NASSCOM and GITA delegations had B2B meetings with their Israeli counterparts. 6 March

Joint Committee Meeting on Science & Technology
Second Joint Committee Meeting on Science & Technology was held in Tel Aviv. The two sides reviewed ongoing co-operation and agreed to broaden the scope of joint-research projects to the new & emerging fields. India will host the first women's STEM conference later this year. 5 March

Department of Science and Technology (DST) delegation to Israel
A high-level delegation from the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and including senior officials from Global Innovation & Technology Alliance (GITA), led by Secretary DST Prof. Ashutosh Sharma visited Israel to further strengthen the ongoing bilateral partnership between India and Israel in the realms of Science, Technology and Innovation. The team made a site visit to the premises of AgroSolar which in collaboration with India’s Vyoda Pvt. Ltd., is working on a pilot project on developing an affordable autonomous water-pump for India’s marginal farming communities using solar energy. Following this, the team also visited the labs of Ubigam to witness the ongoing collaboration between Israel’s Ubigam and India’s Frog Cellsat Ltd. in developing Cellular Interface Mitigation Solutions for the Indian market. Both the joint research-projects above are supported by the Dept. of Science and Technology under the aegis of India-Israel Industrial R&D and Technological Innovation Fund (I4F). The Third Governing Board Meeting of the I4F was also held which approved three new partnerships in healthcare, ICT & energy for support under I4F. 5 March

NASSCOM delegation to Israel
A delegation comprising of emerging Indian start-ups led by NASSCOM President Ms. Debjani Ghosh visited Israel from 5-7 March. The delegation, began the tour with a visit to the premises of Wix, one of the top success stories of the Israeli innovation ecosystem. This was followed by visit to Pitango VC, Israel’s largest Venture Capital fund where the participants got a first-hand insight into the investment side of innovation. The group also interacted with SOSA to learn how through its global network of 150 MNCs, SOSA has been assimilating innovation in corporations. Later in the day, the delegation shared their ideas with the representatives of Ramot, Tel Aviv University’s Technology transfer organization. At MassChallenge Israel, the Indian and Israeli participants had an engaging discussion on the ongoing bilateral strategic partnership in the field of innovation and technology. The delegation visited Checkmarx and had an excellent interaction at the leading cybersecurity with the cyber security community of Israel. 5 March

DCM Tshering W. Sherpa visited Kibbutz Magal unit of Netafim, Israel's leading precision irrigation technology company. Mr. Dubi Raz, Netafim's Corporate Agronomy Director briefed him about their achievements in the area of nutrigation technology, knowledge management and also about Netafim's ongoing projects in India. 18 April

Meeting with Anthill Ventures
Ambassador Pavan Kapoor met with Mr. Sailesh Sigatapu, Partner at Hyderabad based Anthill Ventures & Mr. Aharon Schwartz, Founder of BBS Ben Porat. Anthill Ventures is set to open a startup accelerator in Tel Aviv and plans to invest USD 1M in Israeli startups. 4 April

Mr. Moti Shiri (VP-Tech) & Mr. Diego Berger from Mekorot, Israel's national water company met with DCM Tshering W. Sherpa and briefed him on the signing of agreement with the government of state of Punjab on “Water Conservation and Management Plan for the State of Punjab." 3 April

Visit to TCS Israel
DCM Tshering W Sherpa visited the headquarters of TCS Israel, located at Petah Tikva. CEO Eyal Moskal and his team briefed about the ongoing projects of TCS Israel and the future roadmap. Established in 2005, TCS Israel is today recognized as a leader in development & maintenance of software and hardware systems. TCS Israel boasts some of the largest Israeli conglomerates among its clientele. DCM congratulated TCS Israel for its success and conveyed the Embassy's best wishes for its future projects. 20 March

Netafim To connect 60,000 Indian farmers to irrigation technology Israeli irrigation technology developer Netafim has been selected to construct four large community irrigation projects in India, connecting almost 60,000 farmers in over 100 towns to advanced agricultural technology and providing water to 135,000 acres (54,000 hectares) of land. The project, worth in excess of US$ 100 million, will improve infrastructure in agricultural communities in the southern Indian states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. March 11

Indian hospital chain Apollo partners with Israeli Zebra Medical to fight tuberculosis
Medical analytics company Zebra Medical Vision Ltd. and HealthNet Global Ltd., a subsidiary of Indian hospital chain Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd., have partnered to advance the early detection of tuberculosis in hospitals throughout India. The US$ 4.9 million partnership will focus on the development of an AI-based chest X-ray interpretation tool capable of detecting early signs of tuberculosis. 13 March

BEL signs agreement with Israel to manufacture Helmet Mounted Display System for Indian armed forces pilots
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed a technology collaboration agreement (TCA) with Israeli firm Elbit Systems Ltd for licensed manufacture of Helmet Mounted Display System (HMDS)/ Helmet Pointing System (HPS) Version 02 to be used by Armed Forces pilots. The two companies signed the agreement at the Aero India 2019 which took place between 20-24 February in Bengaluru. Under the agreement, BEL will make and integrate HMDS with night-flying vision goggles, colour day and night display, 3D symbology, head-tracking, sensors and weapon cuing. 7 March

Elbit to supply ATHOS 2052 howitzers to India
Local media reported that Elbit Systems has won an Indian Army tender for artillery guns worth over US$ 1 billion. However, the Israeli company has not yet issued any official statements on the matter. Indian media outlets reported that Elbit Systems has won a tender to deliver its ATHOS (Autonomous Towed Howitzer Ordnance System) 2052 to the Indian Army, in a deal estimated at over US$ 1 billion. Elbit has not yet notified the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange on such a deal. 21 April

Walmart unit Flipkart sets up Israel R&D center
Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart, which is owned by US retail giant Walmart, is reportedly setting up an R&D center in Israel to focus on cybersecurity, cloud computing and data protection. The new center will also scout for acquisitions in the country. 2 April

India's Anthill Ventures Opens Tel Aviv Accelerator
Hyderabad, India-headquartered venture capital firm Anthill Ventures is set to open a startup accelerator in Tel Aviv. Anthill CEO Prasad Vanga confirmed the plan in an interview with Calcalist. 20 March

Kids India exhibition2019, September 26-28, Mumbai
“Kids India” is India’s largest B2B fair for toys and children’s products to be held at the Bombay Convention & Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. The fair was launched in 2013 and this is the seventh edition to project the Indian toy industry to the International toy fraternity. The toy industry showcases the latest innovations in this fair.
