Meeting with Minister of Energy
 
Ambassador Sanjeev Singla met Dr. Yuval Steinitz, Minister of Energy of Israel.   During their meeting, they discussed the bilateral issues and the forthcoming visit of Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat’s visit to Israel from 17-19 November, 2019. 17 November
Visit of Minister of Jal Shakti to Israel
 
Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Jal Shakti visited Israel from 17-19 November 2019. He had a bilateral meeting with his Israeli counterpart Dr. Yuval Steinitz, Minister of Energy, where they reaffirmed to work together in making water more accessible to everybody. He addressed a packed auditorium at the “India-Israel Strategic Partnership on Water” on 18 November where he said "Let’s innovate together deflect a little from conventional thinking, and help each other to fight against all odds. Let’s come together to create a synergy for saving life, saving water, and in turn saving the planet". Minister Shekhawat interacted with leading experts in the field of water management, Israeli companies active in the field and other relevant stake-holders. Minister of Jal Shakti was the keynote speaker at the prestigious biennial WATEC event on 19 November.  The Minister visited Hadera Desalination Plant and also paid homage to the Indian soldiers at the Haifa War Cemetery who laid down their lives in the first World War during the liberation of the city of Haifa in 1918.
Representatives from the State Governments of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Delhi participated on the water symposium. There was also a sizeable business community participation from India with B2B meetings facilitated for them with Israeli water related companies.  17-19 November
Meeting with Mayor of Tel Aviv
 
Ambassador Sanjeev Singla met Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Mr. Ron Huldai, before Mayor Huldai’s visit to India. The Ambassador appreciated the support of the Mayor, a friend of India. The opportunities are limitless for cooperation between the non-stop city of Tel Aviv and Indian cities. 28 November
IIM Bangalore delegation to Israel
 
Deputy Chief of Mission Tshering W Sherpa had an engrossing interaction with the innovative young minds and start-ups of IIM Bangalore and Department of Science & Technology at the Embassy. The Indian visitors were on an exchange program to Israel. 29 November 2019
Visit at DDS

Deputy Chief of Mission  Mr. Tshering W. Sherpa, visited DDS offices in Jerusalem and had an interesting interaction with  Mr. Emmanuel Bitton, VP. DDS is a major player and a producer of controllers and extensions in access control security. DDS is another Israeli success story in India. 11 December
Inauguration of India Israel Young Leaders Forum
 
Ambassador Sanjeev Singla addressed the inaugural India-Israel Young Leaders Forum along with Ambassador of Israel to India, Mr.  Ron Malka. Linkages between young business leaders is crucial for our business ties. Even the sky is not the limit for what we may achieve together. 15 December
The 12th India Israel Forum
 
The 12th  India Israel Forum was held at the Tel Aviv University. Ambassador Sanjeev Singla addressed the forum and suggested themes for the roadmap ahead, including enhancing academic linkages. The themes of the forum this year were Water and Cross Border Investments. 16 December
Visit to Ecoppia
 
Deputy Chief of Mission  Mr. Tshering W. Sherpa, had a fascinating visit at Ecoppia, a leading brand in  autonomous zero water robotic solution for cleaning solar panels with manufacturing facility in Mohali with Sun Group. During the visit, he met with CEO Eran Muller, VP Anat Cohen and Director of Finance, Arye Lumelsky. 17 December

Israeli tethered drones to check cross-border crime in Assam's Dhubri district
 
The BSF has recently procured Israeli tethered drones and thermal imagers to check smuggling and illegal infiltration in Dhubri sector of Assam, where a major part of the India-Bangladesh border passes through a riverine stretch, making it difficult to erect fences.
The drones, equipped with day-night vision cameras, can fly up to a height of 150 metre to capture images on the ground, especially of isolated areas not visible to unaided human eye. 5 November, 2019.
 
 
Israeli cybersecurity envoy trains with Indian counterparts
 
A delegation of Israeli cybersecurity companies visited New Delhi to hold training and enrichment activities, and share knowledge with government and private entities throughout India. The activities were conducted in cooperation with Israel's Ministry of Economy and Industry, the Israel National Cyber Directorate and the Israel Export Institute (IEI).
The Israeli companies presented solutions for the finance sector and critical infrastructure such as companies' computer systems, transport and energy services and government bodies. The visiting delegation included 12 leading cyber companies and representatives of the National Cyber Directorate and took part in a series of events, professional meetings and training workshops. Over 100 Indian participants from about 70 leading technology companies, research institutes and government and security bodies took part in the activities.
 
India may surpass Germany to become fourth-largest economy in 2026

India is expected to overtake Germany to become the fourth-largest economy in 2026 and Japan to become third largest in 2034, according to a recent report by the UK-based Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR). The report further said that India is also set to reach a gross domestic product (GDP) of US$ 5 trillion by 2026, 2 years later than the government's target.
"India has decisively overtaken both France and the UK to become the world's fifth-largest economy in 2019. It is expected to overtake Germany to become fourth largest in 2026 and Japan to become the third largest in 2034," the report, titled 'World Economic League Table 2020', said.

The  3rd Raw Material Sourcing Meet on 2nd  February 2020 at Chennai, Tamil Nadu
The Council for Leather Exports (CLE) is organizing the third edition of the Raw Material Sourcing Meet on 1st February 2020 coinciding with the India International Leather Fair, Chennai, (Jan 31-Feb 03,  2020).
CLE is an Export Promotion Organization functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, with the prime objective of promoting export of leather, leather products & footwear.
CLE had organized Raw Material Sourcing Meet during 2018 and 2019.  In both the editions, around 25 international suppliers from countries like Brazil, Bangladesh, USA, East African countries, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, etc. attended the event and held B2B meetings with the Indian suppliers.
The objective of the Sourcing Meet is to arrange B2B meetings between the international suppliers of raw hides/skins, wet-blue, crust leather and Indian manufacturers of leather products to facilitate their sourcing  of raw hides, skins, wet blue,  crust leather etc., and to meet the new capacity developed for production of shoes, bags and garments.

The 13th Edition of IIJS Signature 2020 & 7th edition of IGJME 2020 (Concurrent Show) from 13th to 16th February, 2020 at Mumbai, Maharashtra
The Gem & Jewelry Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) is the apex body of trade sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, to promote exports of the gems and jewelry from India.
With support from the Indian Embassies worldwide, The Gem & Jewelry Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) was able to successfully host the 36th edition IIJS Premiere 2019 which was held in Mumbai from 8-12 August 2019. The show witnessed a huge interest with nearly 1,260 exhibitors, 2368 booths, 55000 sq. ft., 39,000 trade visitors from 800 Indian cities/towns and 80 countries from around the world.
