Visit to the National Library Project in Jerusalem
On January 25th, Ambassador Sanjeev Singla visited the construction project of National Library in Jerusalem led by the Israeli company Poran Shrem, which has partnered with Indian companies viz Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRCL) and RITES for their bid for the Tel Aviv Metro project.
 
Visit of delegation from CII and SICCI to Cybertech 2023
Over 90 delegates from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and South Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) visited the CyberTech 2023 at Expo Tel aviv. Indian delegation was one of the largest country delegations at CyberTech 2023. On January 30, Ambassador Sanjeev Singla addressed a special side event on “Cyber Opportunities in India”, along with Dr Ron Malka, former Ambassador of Israel to India.
Handing over Ceremony at Haifa Port
In a ceremony attended by Israel's Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu, Minister of Transport and Road Safety H.E. Miri Regev, Minister of Energy H.E. Mr Israel Katz, H.E. Ambassador Sanjeev Singla and the Chairman of Adani Group, Mr. Gautam Adani, the ownership of Haifa Port Company was handed over on January 30 to the India Israel Joint Venture consortium of Adani-Gadot group.

Embassy representative to meet Reichman MBA students

From January to February 2023, Embassy’s Economic & Commercial representative visited Reichman University to address a special course on "International Business Culture" as a part of the MBA Program at the Reichman University. The aim of the course was to provide the students with practical tools in addressing new markets giving consideration for business culture aspects. The programme included interactions with Embassy representatives of India, Japan, Germany and Bahrain.


 
SBI budget webinar
On 9 February 2023, the State Bank of India, Tel Aviv organized a joint webinar on Union Budget 2023-24 for participants from Israel. The session was addressed by SBI Group Chief Economic Advisor Dr. Saumya Kanti Ghosh which carried insights into various facets of the Indian budget with focus on business opportunities emerging from new policy decisions / changes, capex allocations to various sectors and enablers for trade.
 
Young and innovative farmers from Kerala State visit Israel
A delegation of 27 young and innovative farmers from the Kerala State visited Israel from 13-19 February 2023 for an exposure visit to learn innovative farming techniques practised in Israel. The group was led by the Principal Secretary and Agriculture Production Commissioner of Government of Kerala.
 
Business delegation of CEOs from AIMA
An 18-member business delegation of CEOs from the All India Management Association (AIMA) visited Israel from 27 Feburary to 4 March 2023. The delegates came to learn about the country’s high technology and innovation ecosystem. The delegation included representation from Tata Group, Kirloskar, Triveni Group, NICCO Group, Dempo Group, Hero Enterprises, TCIL among others. Ambassador interacted with the AIMA CEOs on 27 February 2023.

Is the iPhone’s ‘Made in India’ era about to begin?
India has emerged as an attractive potential alternative as one of the biggest largest economies. Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said Apple was already making between 5% and 7% of its products in India. “If I am not mistaken, they are targeting to go up to 25% of their manufacturing,” he said at an event in January. Asia’s third largest economy also offers a growing domestic market. In 2023, as global recession fears persist, India is expected to remain the fastest growing major economy in the world.

Government to launch digital India innovation fund for deep tech startup
The Government of India will launch a digital India innovation fund which will support deep tech startups. The fund will be providing economical assitance to comapnies whos main obejctives are providing technology solutions based on substantial scientific or engineering challenges.

India invites Israeli PM Netanyahu to India 'at an early date'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday had a telephone conversation with the newly elected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and invited him to visit India “at an early date”. “Prime Minister conveyed his warm congratulations to H.E. Mr. Netanyahu for his election as the Prime Minister of Israel for a sixth time and wished him a very successful tenure,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.

India joins Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate
India has joined a global platform launched by the US and the UAE with an aim to accelerate investment and support for climate-smart agriculture and food systems innovation. The Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate (AIM4C) was launched by the two nations in November 2021. Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs Dammu Ravi signed a letter expressing the Indian intention to join the AIM4C on the margins of the I2U2 - Israel, India, the United States and the United Arab Emirates - Business Forum in Abu Dhabi.

Step into the future: A taste of the innovations brewing in India
Over the last several years, the government’s efforts have indeed raised the profile of technology-led startups as a proxy for innovation. A Union minister pointed out last September that India’s rank on the global innovation index, compiled every year by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a United Nations agency, has jumped 41 places from 81 to 40 between 2015 and 2022.
India is today, genuinely a global startup hub and destination for tens of billions of dollars of venture money.

Accelerator fund to drive agriculture towards optimisation of resources
An Agriculture Accelerator Fund will be set up to encourage agri-startups by young entrepreneurs in rural areas, said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, during the presentation of the Union budget 2023-24. The fund will aim at bringing innovative and affordable solutions for challenges faced by farmers. It will also bring in modern technologies to transform agricultural practices, and increase productivity and profitability. Digital public infrastructure for agriculture will be built as an open-source, open-standard and interoperable platform for public good. This will enable inclusive, farmer-centric solutions through relevant information services for crop planning and health; improved access to farm inputs, credit, and insurance; help for crop estimation and market intelligence. It will support the growth of the agri-tech industry and start-ups operating in the space, according to the minister.

Paint India is the premier trade fair for the paints, coatings and allied industries in this part of the world, and the third largest show of its kind in the world. It has been in existence for over 25 years now, and has been the fastest growing event globally in this space. It comes from the same lineage as the magazine of the same name, which has been serving the Industry for over 70 years now.
