74th Independence Day of India
Ambassador Sanjeev Singla unfurled the tricolour in Israel on the occasion of the 74th Independence Day of India. He read out extracts from the address of the President of India to the nation. Ambassador Singla also conveyed warm greetings to the Indian community in Israel. 15 August.
Visit to Tel Aviv University
Ambassador Sanjeev Singla visited Tel Aviv University and discussed ongoing collaborations and future opportunities for partnership with India, along with President Ariel Porat and senior officials. He also met Indian students studying at the University. 18 August
Meeting with Heads of Israeli Chamber of Commerce
Ambassador Sanjeev Singla met with Heads of Israeli Chamber of Commerce, Israel- Asia Chamber of Commerce and Israel-India Chamber of Commerce and discussed ways to enhance India-Israel bilateral trade. 19 August
Meeting with Foreign Minister
Ambassador Sanjeev Singla called on Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi. Highlighting complementarities between the two countries, which make them natural partners, FM expressed eagerness to further strengthen bilateral relations through an even greater engagement at all levels. 20 August
NASSCOM Xperience AI Summit
Ambassador Sanjeev Singla participated in the NASSCOM Xperience AI Summit, a virtual summit with over 3000 attendees across industries and cities in India & globally, 8 Deep Tech AI workshops, 20 Virtual Sessions, 16 Start-Up Show. A special session, focused on Israeli startups using breakthrough AI technologies, was organized by the Commercial Wing of the Embassy of India, Tel Aviv. "India now has one of the largest startup ecosystems in the world. There are tremendous opportunities here for AI & quantum computing." - Ambassador Sanjeev Singla stated.  4 September.
Visit to the Ben Gurion University
Ambassador Sanjeev Singla visited Ben Gurion University and met President Prof. Daniel Chamovitz and other senior officials to discuss opportunities for academic and innovation cooperation. He also visited the beautiful BGU campus & met with some Indian students studying at the University. 7 September
Meeting with President of Manufacturers' Association
Ambassador Sanjeev Singla met Dr. Ron Tomer, President of Manufacturers' Association and co-chair India-Israel CEO forum and discussed India-Israel bilateral trade relations. 8 September
Israel and India sign MoU to collaborate in tech innovation
Ambassador Sanjeev Singla spoke at the signing ceremony of The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between iCreate and Start Up Nation.  The MoU was signed on 22 September between Israel’s Start-Up Nation Central and India’s International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology (iCreate) to  initiate  a bilateral program to accelerate innovation and technology cooperation between start-ups and corporates from both countries. The aim of this program is to bring together Israeli and Indian entrepreneurs and startups to collaborate on innovative projects. The MoU was signed by Prof. Eugene Kandel, CEO of Start-Up Nation Central from Jerusalem and Anupam Jalote, CEO of iCreate from Ahmedabad. Professor Vijay Raghavan, Principal Scientific Advisor to Govt. of India was present in the event through video-conferencing, while H.E. Dr. Ron Malka, Israel’s Ambassador to India and Mr. Yaakov Finkelstein, Israel’s Consul General in Mumbai were physically present. Others who were present virtually were Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijay Rupani sent his best wishes through a video message. iCreate and Start-Up Nation Central will initiate a unique Online Acceleration Program for market penetration to work with relevant technologies that match up with requirements originating from Indian corporations.  22 September.

Netafim wins $85m follow-on irrigation deal in India
Israeli precision irrigation solutions company Netafim has announced that it has won follow-up community irrigation projects in India in a deal estimated at $85 million dollars for providing advanced irrigation systems to 35,000 farmers.
The new deal is for three large projects in India, involving the construction of irrigation systems that follow the community irrigation model. Regional irrigation projects won by Netafim to date involve 202 villages in India and over 97,000 farmers over 100,000 hectares (247,105 acres). The transition to precision irrigation is expected to double agricultural output, improve its quality, and save about 40% in water and fertilizer consumption. August 10
 
 
Mahindra Partners With Israel’s REE Automotive to Develop EVs
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has inked a pact with Tel Aviv-based REE Automotive to explore the production of commercial electric vehicles (EVs). M&M has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the startup to explore the development and manufacturing of electric commercial vehicles for global markets.
The strategic collaboration will leverage REE’s revolutionary electric vehicle corner module and platform technology of integrating powertrain, suspension and steering components in the arch of a vehicle wheel. August 27
 
Caesarstone buys Indian porcelain co Lioli
Israeli engineered quartz surface countertop company Caesarstone Ltd. announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in Lioli Ceramica Pvt. Ltd., an India-based producer of cutting-edge porcelain countertop slabs. Lioli has annual revenue of $18 million.The transaction is expected to close in 2020, subject to customary closing conditions, and is expected to have a favorable impact to earnings beyond 2020. Global Innovation Index 2020: India Makes Major Gains
In another landmark achievement India has been ranked among top 50 innovative countries in WIPO ’s GII 2020 report. India has seen a significant jump of 33 ranks, from 81 in 2015 to 48 in 2020. 3 September
 
 
Exports Of Agricultural Commodities During March To June 2020 Increased By 23.24 Per Cent Compared To Corresponding Period In 2019
The exports of Agri commodities during March 2020 to June 2020 were Rs 25,552.7 crore (US$ 3.63 billion) against an export of Rs 20,734.8 crore (US$ 2.94 billion) during the same period in 2019, showing a sharp increase of 23.24 per cent. The agricultural exports as a percentage of India’s agricultural GDP has increased from 9.4 per cent in 2017-18 to 9.9 per cent in 2018-19. While the agricultural imports as a percentage of India’s agricultural GDP has declined from 5.7 per cent to 4.9 per cent indicating exportable surplus and decreased dependence on import of agricultural products in India. 9 September
 
 
IAI signs agreement to acquire 50% of BlueBird shares for $14.4 million
 
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) signed an agreement on Thursday to acquire 50% of the equity of BlueBird Aero Systems. As part of the transaction, IAI is acquiring the holdings of India- based Piramal Technologies SA, and additional shares from Fiberless Access and Ronen Nadir for NIS 50 million ($14.38 million). Nadir will continue to hold 50% of BlueBird shares and continue to serve as the company’s CEO. 24 September

VAIBHAV Summit for S&T – October 2 to 31
Vaishwik Bharatiya Vaigyanik (VAIBHAV) Summit is a collaborative initiative by S&T and Academic Organisations of India to enable deliberations on thought process, practices and R&D culture with a problem solving approach for well defined objectives. The VAIBHAV initiative aims to bring out the comprehensive roadmap to leverage the expertise and knowledge of global Indian researcher for solving emerging challenges. By bringing the Indian Overseas and Resident academicians/scientists together a structure of association will be evolved. The aim of summit is to reflect in-depth on the collaboration and cooperation instruments with academia and scientists in India. The goal is to create an ecosystem of Knowledge and Innovation in the country through global outreach.

The virtual summit will be inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister on 2nd October'2020 in the virtual presence of registered academia and researchers from across the world. This will be followed by online month-long deliberation sessions starting from 3rd October to 30th October 2020 among researchers through webinar mode. Concluding session is planned on 7th November on Sir CV Raman Jayanti. The Summit aims to bring out mechanisms of advancements in education, research and entrepreneurship in India as an essential element of its overall sustainable development.

Artificial Intelligence- Responsible AI for Social Empowerment (RAISE 2020) - 5th - 9th October, 2020
