Embassy of India in collaboration with State Bank of India organized a joint business seminar titled “Emerging Opportunities in India” on February 8, 2018 at Sheraton Hotel, Tel Aviv. More than 100 companies and businessmen from Israel participated at the event which featured key speakers such as Dr. Anju Kumar, Deputy Ambassador and Head of the Commercial Wing of Embassy of India in Israel, Mr. R Shailesh Unnithan, CEO, SBI Tel Aviv, Mr. Vishal Gupta , SVP SBICAPS, Mr Purshotam Agarwal, VP , SBICAPS, Mr Shiv Kumar Bhasin, Chief Technology Officer of SBI.

Nabard delegation in Israel
On January 24th, DCM Dr. Anju Kumar greeted the 20 members delegation from NABARD for completion of a 5 days training course organized by Weitz Center for Sustainable Development. The delegation was headed by Dr. A V Bhavani Shankar, Deputy General Manager at Bankers Institue of Rural Development.

Israeli delegation to CAPINDIA 2018
CAPINDIA 2018 was a 3 days of exhibition in Mumbai spread over 10,000 sqm. Over 700 Exhibitors covering manufacturers / exporters showcased a range of Chemicals, Plastics & Platics Machineries Consumer & Packaging Items, under the purview of CHEMEXCIL, PLEXCONCIL, CAPEXIL and SHEFEXIL on 22-24th of March 2018.

Indian economy to be 5th largest in 2018: World Economic League
India's economy is expected to overtake that of Britain and France to become the world's fifth largest in dollar terms in 2018 and third largest in 2032, the World Economic League Table (WELT) said on Wednesday. It would be the first time when the Indian economy will overtake the UK and France in real money dollar terms, the ninth-edition of the report released by London-based Centre for Economics and Business Research showed. The world economic league table has forecast for 192 countries up to the year 2032. The report said the Indian economy has been larger than that of the majority of Western economies for most of history. It was only in 1906 that the UK economy overtook the Indian economy, while the French economy was smaller than the Indian economy until 1951. India will become the world's third largest economy by 2032, said the report, which gave the annual growth, inflation and exchange rate forecast for each of the 192 economies over the next 15 years.

FDI policy further liberalized in key sectors
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval to a number of amendments in the FDI Policy. These are intended to liberalise and simplify the FDI policy so as to provide ease of doing business in the country. In turn, it will lead to larger FDI inflows contributing to growth of investment, income and employment. Measures undertaken by the Government have resulted in increased FDI inflows in to the country. During the year 2014-15, total FDI inflows received were US $ 45.15 billion as against US $ 36.05 billion in 2013-14. During 2015-16, country received total FDI of US $ 55.46 billion. In the financial year 2016-17, total FDI of US $ 60.08 billion has been received, which is an all-time high. It has been felt that the country has potential to attract far more foreign investment which can be achieved by further liberalizing and simplifying the FDI regime. Accordingly, the Government has decided to introduce a number of amendments in the FDI Policy.

Cyient, BlueBird set up JV for UAV systems
India based IT company Cyient Ltd announced that it has inked a pact with Israel-based BlueBird Aero Systems to set up a joint venture to offer UAV systems for defence, paramilitary, security, and police forces in India. The agreement was inked at DefExpo 2018 in Chennai. The JV firm will indigenise, manufacture, assemble, integrate and test advanced UAV systems at its production facilities in Hyderabad by leveraging BlueBird’s technology and manufacturing knowhow. The company will also provide aftermarket services, including spares, repairs, maintenance, and support to end users across India.
